NBA Superfriends a new Trend
66The 1st superfriends of the 2000's
The NBA has a lot of budding all-star today. In the past, the most common is only two budding stars. Jordan-Pippen, Stockton-Malone, Magic-Kareem, Bird-Mchale are just to name a few. As time flies, the NBA today has so many talents that the superstars are forced to join not only in pairs but in an all-star like team.
How did it start?
It was the year that the Boston Celtics are starting to rebuild and badly wanted to be a contender. Surrounded with young the talent, the Celtics give up a lot in exchange to a superstar players. they acquired both Kevin Garnett and fellow all-star and 3-point specialist Ray Allen. Together with Paul Pierce, the Boston Celtics won a championship in the same NBA season of 2007-2008 that caught the attention of other teams to form their very own All-star team.
With the upcoming 2011-2012 season, let's see the current super friends team of the NBA and what to expect from such teams.
Boston Celtics "Fantastic-Four"
The Boston Celtics gained another all-star in the name of Rajon Rondo. They became "Fantastic Four" after the point guard gained recognition in running the Celtic's offense. But with aging of "The Big Three", it unknown how far can the Celtics get this season.
LA Clippers "Home of Lob City"
The Clippers got their own Big Three now but still needs to be improved. Its starting five alone is formidable enough to give different teams a headache. Jordan is a solid athletic center that can run and spread the floor and Caron Butler is also a former all-star that can surely become one again once the season starts.
Check the video below on what to expect from the Lob City guys.
LA Lakers
Lamar Odom is now with the defending champs and things are not good in Lakerland because the two big guys are still rumored to be traded and that the organization wants D12. Many fans don't think it is necessary, Bynum is young and a nice core to build upon and Gasol still has two or three years of all-star to come. Bryant just needs to find when he is needed to score and when he is needed to pass. It is important that Bryant, don't overexerts himself to the paid that he is tired. Lakers is still championship contender no doubt about it.
Miami Heat "The Real Superfriends"
After a dismal final performance from LBJ and CB4, the Heat is back for more and brought more new friends with the names of Eddy Curry and defensive specialist Shane Battier. Another good season is in hands but are they good enough this year to win what Bosh and James hope for?
New York Knicks "Really Big Three"
The New York Knicks have recently signed champion Tyson Chandler. With the addition of Baron Davis in the backcourt. The Knicks will be one of the most favorable team to win the Atlantic Division, but more moves is still needed for them to win what they hope for.
San Antonio Spurs "The Oldest Big Three Intact"
They might not be that much of a Big Three, but I think they do deserve a spot in him. This year, its now or never for the San Antonio Spurs. Tim Duncan is on the verge of retirement or a few years playing just for playoffs. Unless there is more upgrades to come.
Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks have former all-stars and I think that is enough to provide more help with the lost of Chandler and Barea. Odom is a good pick up and will keep Nowitzki fresh. Carter is no Barea but with Kidd manning the ball, good looks will open for Carter this season.
