"Bloody Christmas and a Sad New Year" - 2011 Philippine Holiday Theme
62
"A Bloody Christmas and a Sad New Year", that is the theme of the holidays in the Philippines today. After what its fellow countrymen experience in the hands of typhoon Sendong, many families are left and tears as many of their friends and relatives are found dead or gone missing.
It really is a truly sad holiday for the Philippines, about a thousand of people are killed that many experts proclaimed that typhoon Sendong is the typhoon with most people killed in the history of the Philippines. Coffins and formalin are being shipped to Iligan and Cagayan de Oro for those who those people who needs it. Some bodies that are already bloated are recommended to be part of the massive burying.
The was like typhoon Ondoy back in 2009 of October, but the causalities are more on the objects rather than the people. Ondoy reported to have 100 people killed and Sendong killed 1000. It also came before Christmas Day so its really hard to celebrate Christmas today.
Knowing the Filipinos, will still somehow celebrate Christmas to keep their hopes up. The most wonderful trait of the Filipinos is not to give up and always cheer up especially when its crisis time. During these times, you will how they helped each other out.
Everyone that are still willing to donate can go to Unicef Philippines official website. Any amount can lift a spirit up.
